Born on May 1, 1959, in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the son to the late Jean Kirby Smith Brown and Herbert Lindy Smith.
Mark was a graduate of Eastside High School and went on to be a proud graduate of Clemson University's class of 1988. He spent many years working at ScanSource of Greenville.
A lover of the outdoors, Mark enjoyed spending time in the mountains hiking and being surrounded by nature. He shared his enthusiasm for Clemson football with his family and friends and attended games whenever he could.
Above all else, Mark cherished his family. A devoted father and husband, his wife, and children were his world.
Kind and caring to everyone he encountered, Mark will be dearly missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife of almost 29 years, Pamela Smith; his children Cole and Isabella; two sisters Lynn Smith Rehm and Ann Smith Swift; as well as nieces April Crowe, Amber Garnes, Jennifer Bachman, and Erin Austin; and a nephew Peter Martin Rehm.
Services for Mark will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Mark will be laid to rest next to his father at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens 14050 E Wade Hampton Blvd, Greer, SC 29651.
