Born in Windsor, Ontario, Ron graduated from the University of Windsor and went on to build a long career as a chemist and in regulatory affairs within the medical device industry.
Ron enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gardening. His passion for gardening led him to become a member of the Greater Greenville Master Gardeners Association, where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. Above all, Ron was a devoted father and much-loved grandfather. His family will remember his love, his many interests, and the time they shared with him.
Ron is survived by his son, Douglas Duchene and his wife, Terrie; his daughters, Denise Duchene and Dawn Lyon, and Dawn’s husband, Gregory; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Steven, and Alex Duchene, Samantha and Matthew Griffin, and Danielle Lyon.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Duchene; his father, Alphonse and mother Irene Duchene; and his brother, Donald Duchene.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, September 4, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A service will be held on Saturday, September 5, at 1:00 p.m. Both will take place at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29609.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to the Greater Greenville Master Gardeners Association.
