Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late John and Ernestine Hendrix Sparks. Mr. Sparks was retired from Winn Dixie and was a Jack of all trades. He loved fishing, dirt track racing, and yardwork.
Mr. Sparks is survived by two sons, Phillip Sparks (Kim DeYoung Sparks) and Michael Sparks; three grandchildren, Aimee Smith, Dale Smith, Jr., and Eli Smith; three great grandchildren, Andre “Tater Chip” Gaston, Fahren “Tater Tot” Sage Gaston, and Brently “Chevy” Smith; a brother, John “Butch” Sparks; a sister, Debbie Sparks; and his dog, Daisy May. He was predeceased by a sister, JoAnn Bernloehr.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 at 3:00 PM at Mackey Funerals & Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 conducted by Rev. Vince Gainey with entombment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family will be at the home of Phillip Sparks.
