

Roy was born June 23, 1928 in Pelzer, South Carolina to Paul Kudger Mullinax and Eula Collins Mullinax. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Lily Altman Mullinax of Newton, Kansas, formerly of Vienna, Virginia; daughters Nancy Stamper (Rodney) of Wilson, North Carolina and Julie Crawford (Richard) of Wichita, Kansas; son Richard Mullinax (Marion) of Athens, Georgia; grandson Gregory Stamper (Amanda) of Bailey, North Carolina; grandsons Roy Paul Mullinax II and Jimmy Mullinax of Athens, Georgia; aunt Virginia Collins of South Bend, Indiana; plus several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy joined the Army near the end of World War II. After graduating from Furman University in 1953, he spent several years as a Non-Commissioned Officer and was then commissioned as an officer. He met his beloved wife, Lily, at Furman and they married in 1956. Roy worked as a computer specialist, mostly for the Federal Government, before retiring in 2004. He was a member of the Association of Computing Machinery. He was an active member of Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, Virginia for many years before moving to Presbyterian Manor in 2007. Roy enjoyed traveling with his wife and was an avid checkers player.
A celebration of Roy’s life will take place January 30 at 3:00 P.M. at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, Greenville, South Carolina, with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Visitation begins at 2:00 P.M.
