She was born April 10, 1969 in Greenville, South Carolina, to Richard and Rebecca Eaton. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Simpsonville. She graduated from Bob Jones Academy and went on to get her Bachelor's of Business Administration from American InterContinental University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was an avid musician, playing the clarinet and singing, traveling with the Celebrant Singers to South America and South Korea, as well as many states across the country. Ruth enjoyed cooking, travelling to the beach and the mountains, and especially spending time with friends and family. She most recently worked with Sabai Technology and Vibe Boards, US, using her excellent sense of customer service helping people across the globe. Ruth never met a stranger, and could carry a 15 minute conversation with a wrong number. Many of her regular customers' calls were answered with "Good morning, my friend, what's up on your side of the world today?" Even in passing, Ruth was able to help others by the gift of donation of her corneas, which showed her life of helping others selflessly.
Ruth was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Joe and Ruth Chandler; her paternal grandparents, Frederick and Madalyn Eaton; a nephew, Joshua Eaton, and a sister-in-law, Britten Connell.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Mark Petty; her brother, Roger (Brooke) Eaton; 4 nephews: Matthew (Jenna) Eaton, Andrew Eaton, Isaac Eaton, and Korbin-Thomas Connell; 5 nieces: Lillian Eaton, Hannah Eaton, Carmen Petty, Kylie Petty, and Lola Connell, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and hundreds of friends, local, across the country, and the world over.
The family wishes to thank all of her care physicians, her team of nurses at Hillcrest Memorial ICU, and especially, the friends and family that have made Ruth so happy and comfortable during her fight.
A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Family will receive guests from 2:00-4:00 PM. Ruth's final wish is to be cremated.
Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
