Salfia Cuevas Kalagayan

Salfia Cuevas Kalagayan, at the age of 91, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 20, 2019.
She was born in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite, Philippines on October 27, 1928, the fourth of nine children born to Tomas and Catalina Cuevas. Salfia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who faithfully served her family with her quiet nature, tender heart, and subtle strength. Whether it was by taking care of her grandchildren, sewing clothes for them, fixing her beloved Filipino dishes, being a peacemaker, or just being there for a conversation or a laugh, Salfia was a graceful picture of maternal love. Most of all, she was a dedicated servant to Christ. She loved to read Scripture, loved her church, and loved to sing hymns and Gospel songs. Her favorite song was “When We See Christ.” And though we are sorrowful, we also rejoice that her faith is now sight, and she can say with great joy, “Yes, it IS worth it all!”
Salfia is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elias Kalagayan; four children: Hecely (James) Helsel, Florida (Carlos) Fiel, Ellyson (Manda) Kalagayan, and Nori (Gary) Santiago; and seven grandchildren: Andrew Fiel, Meghan Fiel, Renee Kalagayan, Owen Kalagayan, Ien Santiago, Ina Santiago, and Elijah Santiago.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, November 25, 2019 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 in the chapel of Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Century Drive. Private burial will be held at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, South Carolina.
