Sandra Pruitt Miller

Born in Franklin, KY, she was the daughter of farmers C.W. and Edith Pruitt. Graduating from Franklin-Simpson High School in 1963, she then earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green in 1967. The following year, she earned her M.S. in Library Science from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

While Sandra was at Kentucky, she became engaged to Christopher N. Miller, who was pursuing his B.S. in Electrical Engineering (which he earned in late 1969). Marrying in May 1969, Sandra worked in a library near Lexington until her husband earned his degree. After her husband graduated from Kentucky, they moved to Ashland where he worked for Kentucky Power from 1970 until 1974 as an electrical engineer. Before she gave birth to her son in 1972, Sandra worked in regional libraries in eastern Kentucky near Ashland before becoming a stay-at-home mom.

The family moved to Knoxville, TN in 1974 when her husband got a job with the Tennessee Valley Authority working as an electrical engineer until 1988 when they moved to Greer, SC for her husband’s work. During those times, Sandra did volunteer work at the churches she was involved with, creating libraries for each of the three churches she was involved (Skyline United Methodist Church (UMC) in Ashland, Mountain View UMC in Knoxville, and Devenger Road Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) in Greer). Additionally, she was past historian for the ARP Women’s Synodical Union during the 2000s decade and was also involved in Greer Community Ministries during the late 1990s and early 2000s. Her favorite hobbies were genealogy, history, and reading.

She was predeceased by her parents C.W. and Edith Pruitt. She is survived by her husband, Christopher N. of Greer, and her son Christopher C. (Mindy) of Woodstock, GA.

A visitation will be held on July 11, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Devenger Road ARP in Greer, SC, with a funeral service officiated by Andrew Di Illuio to follow at 11:00 AM. Arrangements provided by Mackey Funerals and Cremations of Greenville, SC. Sandra will be laid to rest on July 13, 2024 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, KY, with the assistance of Crafton Funeral Homes.
