Shariff Ameem Lewis, a beloved father, grandfather, husband, son, brother, and friend — known for his unwavering loyalty, big heart, and incredible sense of humor — passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025 in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 52. He was born on December 12, 1972 in Queens, New York to his loving parents, Jerry and Wilma Lewis.
He dedicated 25 years of service to Duke Energy, where he was known for his hard work and reliability. But beyond the job, Shariff was the kind of person who showed up for people without hesitation — whether it was family, friends, or even strangers in need.
He was a legendary pit master, known for his unmatched BBQ skills and ever-growing collection of grills and smokers. No restaurant could compete with the curated quality and love he poured into every meal.
He was an avid sports fan with a deep, year-round passion for competition and athleticism. While the Philadelphia Eagles held his heart, he followed every team, season, and stat with deep knowledge and a genuine love for the game.
Shariff was a proud and devoted father who never missed an event, a call, or an opportunity to show up. His love and support reached far beyond his own children. He played a major role in the lives of his grandkids, his sister, niece and nephew, and anyone who needed a steady hand. He was the quiet strength beneath our chaos, the one who held everything together without asking for credit. The kind of person who made life feel safer just by being in it.
More than anything, Shariff lived with love at the center. He loved without hesitation, laughed with his whole heart, and made everyone around him feel safe, seen, and deeply loved.
He is survived by his wife, Mandolin Lewis; daughters, India Lewis and Alicia Orr; son-in-law, Ethan Orr; grandchildren, Ezra Mooney and Anora Knox; parents, Wilma and Jerry Lewis; sister, Jamilah Smith; nephew, Caleb Smith; niece, Nya Howard; and Nya’s husband, Christian Howard, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Shariff Ameem Lewis was truly one of a kind — and his love, presence, and laughter will be missed beyond measure.
