Sheela Freeland

Sheela was born in Laurens, SC on September 28, 1965, the daughter of Don and Essie Simmons, stepmother Judy Snipes and the late Tyrone Snipes. She graduated from Eastside High School in 1983, Sheela was the proud owner of SKF Permitting, LLC. She was previously employed with CRS Sirrine and Ryan Homes.

Traveling with her late husband, Francis Freeland, to many exotic islands was one of her happiest times. After his passing, she loved going to the beach, and road trips with family and friends. She loved attending Country Music Concerts, Clemson football games, and playing with her great niece, Kennedy and nephew, Baylor. Most of all, she loved family gatherings hosted by her favorite aunts, Betty Sligh Chapman and Peggy Sligh Gambrell.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Matt Freeland, and brother David Snipes.

In addition to her parents, Sheela is survived by her sisters, Shaye Snipes Templeton (Frank) and Sydney Snipes Prescott (John), her brother, Randy Snipes (Gail), her niece, Ashley Stewart (Chase), her cousins whom she loved like sisters, Susan, Sandy, Shawn, and Shadana, as well as her four fur babies, which she adored, Dabo, Fibi, Chloe, and PJ.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rainey Hospice House of Anderson or the Oconee Humane Society.
