Shirley Ann Long Chandler

Shirley Ann Long Chandler, lovingly known as "Carolina Blue Eyes," passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina, at the age of 89. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted servant of the Lord, Shirley was a radiant soul whose love of life, family, and faith touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Martin Leo Chandler; her sister, Marie Williams; and her brother, Tommy Long. She leaves behind four loving children: Larry Chandler (Debbie), Tammy Chandler (Byron), Scott Chandler (Lindsay), and Star Chandler (April), as well as 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, each one held close in her heart and in her daily prayers.

A devout Christian, Shirley's love for Southern gospel music was one of the many ways she expressed her faith. She had a beautiful voice and wrote two recorded songs: "A Message from Elvis" and "I've Got This Feeling". Her joyful spirit and musical gifts uplifted those around her and brought light to every room she entered.

Known for her legendary cornbread and dressing, Shirley was also a talented homemaker who took pride in nurturing her family. Her kitchen was the heart of the home, always filled with the aroma of soul food and the sound of laughter.

Shirley's bright smile, upbeat nature, and strong spirit earned her the love and admiration of many. As the matriarch of her family, she led with faith, prayed with purpose, and loved with a heart as deep as her Carolina blue eyes.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Dr. Greenville, SC 29609 on Sunday, May 18, 2025 . Receiving of friends begins at 1:00 PM, followed by a chapel service at 2:00 PM and graveside services at 3:00 PM.

Shirley Ann Long Chandler will be remembered not only for her voice and her cooking, but for the love, faith, and light she brought into the world. Her legacy will live on in every note sung, every prayer whispered, and every dish shared around a family table.
