Tae Yung "Ted" Lee

February 13, 1942December 12, 2018

Tae-Yung (Theodore “Ted”) Lee passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 12pm. He was 76 years old. He is survived by his wife, 3 children, and 12 grandchildren In Korea, his surviving family includes 2 sisters, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. While on this Earth, he lived and was a citizen of 3 countries. He was born in Korea where he grew up, married, and started his family. In 1974, he embarked on a brave opportunity, he took his young family and emigrated to Canada. Through hard work and faith in God’s goodness, he established a new life, citizenship, and career for his family. Then, in 1990, he moved again and set up his business from Canada to Greenville, SC and eventually gained his US citizenship.

Mr. Lee was an entrepreneur at heart. He had big dreams and saw many of them fulfilled throughout his life. But the biggest motivator that permeated everything he did was his deep faith in God and great joy in spreading His Word. In every country and city in which he lived, he was instrumental in starting, encouraging, and establishing Korean churches where God’s Word was honored and the preaching of His truth was pure.

Although he battled a couple of major surgeries (in 2000, a kidney removed due to cancer, and, in 2001, a quintuple bypass surgery), he was always active and had ongoing projects that involved Bible translations. One of his last projects was a book which he entitled “Heavenly Habitats”, an example of a mind and heart that sought to know God and to understand His mysteries.

A man with many passions, his children and grandchildren reflect those same devotions in art, music, business, and adventure. Unafraid of challenges, armed with resourcefulness and a hard work ethic, and with his dedication to all the opportunities God gave him, he, in turn, has freely and generously provided exciting and new opportunities for growth and potential to his family and so many others.

All friends and family members are invited to join us in honoring Mr. Lee at his funeral service to be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018, at 2pm, at Faith Free Presbyterian, 1207 Haywood Rd, Greenville, SC 29615.

Psalm 23 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

We are sorry to hear that Ted has passed away. My wife and I are consoled with knowing that Ted is in God’s presence.

I have had the privilege of knowing Ted and his family since 1989 and my wife and I respected and enjoyed our friendship.

Ted was a strong believer in Jesus, and devoted to his church. He always invested his energies in promoting his Christian faith among all but especially among his family and the Korean community, both in Canada and the USA.

His talents were many but especially manifest in his beloved field of software architecture and application software, but he also had a great appreciation for music and was proud of the musical talents of his wife and children.

Ted’s personal attributes extended beyond his strong faith and were especially strong in matters of honor, integrity, generosity and sincere friendship. We shall miss him.

We send him our love and condolences to Ted's family and we bid him “adieu” and “au revoir”.

I was privileged to meet Mr Lee and his family for the first time more than 25 years ago. Any time I met him at church services or events he was always most gracious and kindly in his manner. We had some interesting discussions usually on some Biblical topic. Ted was concerned for revival in the Lord's church. He was a man of prayer. I heard him on several occasions take part in public prayer, especially in the smaller gatherings before church services. I shall always remember his smile. The last time I saw him was at our daughter's wedding in late October 2018. We were not to know then that the next time we would meet would be at the great "Marriage Supper of The Lamb" in Heaven. How good it is to know that Ted is now in the immediate presence of the One he came to know and serve here below. Today we are able to thank God for him, and one glad day - perhaps soon - we shall praise God with him forever. To Mrs Lee, Steven, Christine, and Susie and their families we offer our sincere condolences, and pray that the God of all comfort will be your abiding portion - Psalm 46. Sincerely, Rev. Stephen & Mrs June Hamilton

I did not know Mr. Lee very well, but after prayer in the prayer room, he was always warm and had a ready handshake. (A hymn:) "Eternal Light, Eternal Light, how pure the soul must be, when placed within Thy searching sight, it shrinks not but with calm delight can live and look on Thee.--- The spirits that surround Thy throne may bear the burning bliss; but that is surely theirs alone, since they have never, never known a fallen world like this.--- Oh, how shall I whose native sphere is dark, whose mind is dim, before the Ineffable appear and on my naked spirit bear the uncreated beam.--- There is a way for man to rise to that sublime abode; an Offering and a Sacrifice, a Holy Spirits energies, an Advocate with God.--- These, these prepare us for the sight of Holiness above; the sons of ignorance and night may dwell in the eternal light through the eternal Love. Ro 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: {for sin: or, by a sacrifice for sin}4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 1Jo 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Our hearts are warm for you. The Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, comfort your hearts.
