Terressa Marie Young

She was born in Aurora, Indiana, on December 29, 1923, the daughter of the late Walter Carl Morand and the late Lucy Marie Drake Morand. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Louis Young, and her two brothers, Lawrence Drake Morand and Walter Carl Morand.

Teddy worked various jobs throughout her life including administrative assistance, nurse, and switchboard operator. Her favorite job was working as an Avon Representative throughout the 1980’s. Teddy was a loving mother, wife, and friend, and will be missed by many. She was a devoted Christian and spent a lot of her free time reading her Bible. She loved her church, Eastside Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC, and was a member of the choir there for many years. She loved music, singing, and playing the piano. She loved her family and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. She loved animals and often adopted them as her own. She also loved flowers and gardening.

She is survived by one daughter, Pam Cummins (Shelby); 4 sons, Jake Porter (Peggy), Rodney Porter (Donna), Shane Porter, and Randy Young (Jan); 11 grandchildren, Angie Elliott (Dennis), Casey Cummins, Jeff Porter, Brent Porter (Dora), Dawn Kesson (Jason), Josh Porter, Heath Porter, Jared Young (Catherine), Clay Young, Drake Young, and Clark Young; and 15 great-grandchildren, Shelby Cole (Joe), Sydney Elliott, Macy Elliott, Julia Cummins, Joel Cummins, Dylan Porter, Noah Porter, Zach Porter, Caleb Porter, Ben Porter, Caitlyn Porter, Hannah Porter, Jessa Porter, Jase Porter, and Ayden Porter.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 12pm at Eastside Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC. Burial will follow at Graceland East Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Church one hour prior to the service.
