Timothy Shane Spencer

Born on May 23, 1959 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Marian and Edward Spencer.

Tim was a lover of the outdoors, particularly the mountains, where he and Rhonda frequently visited. In his younger years they enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time in the yard.

Strong in his faith, Tim was an active member of his church. While attending Aldersgate United Methodist, he served as a youth counselor as well as a basketball coach. One year, he bet the senior girls team if they won state, he would shave his head. They won and got to shave his head right in the church gym.

Tim was also a lover of music. His favorite genres included rock, celtic, and country. When he was at home he always had music on, and he had a talent for playing the organ. He and his family made a tradition of attending Trans Siberian Orchestra shows during the holiday season. He enjoyed live music and attended performances at the Peace Center whenever he could. Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar were his favorites.

Above all else, Tim loved time with his family. His children and grandchildren were his world. There was nowhere he would rather be than in the presence of the people he loved most.

Tim is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Rhonda; his sons Scott (Jamie), Mark (Jen), and Kevin; granddaughters Hallie Claire, Poppy, and Josie; grandson Julius; and his cousins Tom (Tammy) Littlejohn and daughter Caitlin (Max), and James (Vicki) Page and daughter Ashley.

A Memorial Service for Tim will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
