Tommy Mike Mattos Sr.

Tommy Mike Mattos, Sr., 83, of Simpsonville, SC passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at his home.

Born in Spartanburg, SC, Mr. Mattos was a son of the late George J. and Ollie P. Mattos. A four-year Letterman in football, he graduated from Clemson University in 1956. An avid golfer, coach, and mentor for football and basketball, Mr. Mattos was also a Shriner and a Mason.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Irene Martin. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce B. Mattos; a son, Tommy Mike Mattos, Jr. (Bronwyn); 4 daughters, Carol Mattos Pee (Lamar), Renee Mattos Van Bergen (John), Angie Mattos Przykucki (Mike), and Jenny Martin (Minay); a brother, James G. “Jimmy” Mattos (Kitty); a sister, Lib Ward; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 4pm Friday, August 19, 2016 in the Chapel of The Mackey Mortuary. The family will receive friends at the mortuary 1 hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 1650 E. Greenville St., Ste. G110, Anderson, SC 29621, or to the Alzheimer’s Association,
