Obituary of Trudie Davis Laughridge
IN THE CARE OF

Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park

Trudie Davis Laughridge, age 81, passed away on December 10, 2025, in Greenville, South Carolina.

Trudie was born on August 26, 1944, at Greenville Memorial Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina, to Gladys Tilson and Leroy “Lefty” Davis. She was the oldest of five siblings and graduated from Greenville High School.

In the early 1970s, Trudie met the love of her life, William ‘Bill’ Morris Laughridge, while working at Turner Halsey at the Daniel Building in downtown Greenville. Their meeting marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership, and they were married on December 2, 1972. Bill preceded her in death on January 25, 2025 after more than 52 years of marriage.

Trudie was a devoted mother to her two children. Mary Elizabeth Laughridge was born on February 22, 1976, followed by William Christopher Laughridge, born on November 14, 1979. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her love, strength, and guidance into raising them.

Trudie was preceded in death by her siblings Colleen “Cully” Davis, Michael Davis, and Theresa Davis. She is survived by her sister, Elizabeth “Libby” Baker; her children, Mary Elizabeth Laughridge and William Christopher Laughridge; her grandson, Luke William Laughridge, son of William Christopher; and her niece, Christina, the daughter of Elizabeth Baker. She is also remembered by all those whose lives she touched.

Trudie lived her life with strength, warmth, and quiet dignity. She worked as an independent contractor and spent her extra hours merchandising in retail stores, a role that reflected her strong work ethic and independence. She loved animals and had a special bond with all the Golden Retrievers the family raised together. In her free time, she loved spending time by the ocean and shopping, simple joys that brought her happiness and peace.

A devoted Christian, she found comfort and guidance in her faith. Her family takes peace in knowing that she is now with Jesus in Heaven, reunited with loved ones who went before her. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and love to all who knew her.

A private service will be held by family at a later date.
