Virginia was born June 27, 1924, in Drayton, Spartanburg County, SC to the late Robert Lee and Minnie Lee McKee Patton. She lived in Greenville County, since she was four years old and was a 1941 graduate of Parker High School.
Virginia held her membership for over seventy years at City View First Baptist Church. The hymns always meant a lot to her, and she faithfully served her church and community in a variety of capacities. She spent her career working at Monaghan Mill, Stone Manufacturing, Piedmont Shirt Industries, and retired from the South Carolina Unemployment Office. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, decorating cakes, reading, puzzles, travel, collecting lighthouses, and time with family.
Virginia loved the Lord, serving others, and time with her family! She was well loved by every who knew her. She had a niece, two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter named after her. Her dry humor surprised many, but she always had a wit about her and knew how to make everyone laugh. She will be well missed, but lovingly remembered.
Surviving family members are her son, Robert L. Heaton (Wanda) of Six Mile, SC. A daughter, Sandra H. Allen, of Taylors, SC; four grandchildren, Lee Allen-Russ of Taylors; Stephanie H. Stephens (Bobby), of Six Mile, SC; Lynne Allen Corley (Shannon), of Franklin, GA; Dr. Rev. Lane Allen of Union, MO; and three great-grandchildren who were the apple of her eye, Jacob, Cole, and Emilee Corley; and a host of nephews and nieces.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Rev. Clarence Allen; three sisters, Agnes P. Hill, Rhunette P. Pym, and Grace P. Ausburn and a brother, James Patton, in addition to her husband and parents.
A huge thank you to all her friends and caregivers for all their assistance over the years. A special thank you to the staff at Traditions Health and Simpsonville Post Acute.
Funeral services will be held at City View First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 3, 2023 with visitation prior at 1:00 PM. The burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
