Kim, I was shocked to just hear of Wally's passing today but my heart and prayers are with you and the family. Wally saved my life when he fought so vehemently for me and the children in court. I needed someone strong and firey but also caring and guiding as it was the most difficult time in my life. We shared many jokes and tears (me) throughout the time we worked together but I will always credit Wally for giving me the strength and courage to stand up and fight for what's right for myself and those I care about. I will be forever grateful to YOU BOTH for everything you did for me. His fighting spirit lives on!

Deep condolences to this family.  Wally and I tangled in court often but I enjoyed his sense of humor. So sorry to hear of this sad loss - gone way too soon. Sending prayers of comfort.

First of all, I am sorry for your loss. Wally was a great lawyer and even a better person. My memories of Wally go way back to our running days at lunch tine from the YMCA  in Greenville. I also ran some races with Wally. His favorite was the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston which started in Mount Pleasant and ended in Charleston.  Getting to the starting line was no easy task especially if you were staying in Charleston. At one race many years ago, Wally had a family member take him as close to the starting line as possible. Wally left his running shoes in the car so he decided to run the 10K race in his loafers. About 5 minutes before the race was to begin (about 15,000 participants) there was an announcement over the loud speaker “Wally Mulinax your running shoes are at the starting line” which fortunately saved Wally from a lot of blisters but he was determined to run the race regardless. That was Wally. He will be missed.

I was shocked and distraught to learn yesterday of Wally's death last week.
I first met Wally in 1985 when he appeared with his mentor at the old downtown Family Court for a scheduled divorce hearing.  I naively thought that I must be some kind of bigshot if I required two lawyers!  That initial encounter led to a >30 year professional and personal relationship.  Again naively, I never considered the fact that I would need a "family lawyer".  But of necessity, Wally immediately became that.  Over the years, he helped me and my family out of many difficult situations.  In many cases, he would not submit a bill despite my urging him to do so.  In later years we developed a closer bond with our common affliction.  I even called him after his retirement to get a referral for a property lawyer.
Wally's death is a loss to all.

I've known Wally since our Sara Collins car pooling days.  His law office was just down the street from mine and he was always generous with his advice on difficult family law questions.  When he was healthy he ran more and harder than anyone I knew.  I last saw Wally when he accepted my invitation to the Grateful Brew.  I hadn't seen him in a while and missed talking to him.  I knew he was having difficulty then but, true to his character, he was upbeat and I appreciated the short time we had together.  I will miss him as will so many others.

I’m so sad and shocked to learn of Wally’s passing. I have known Wally for over 30 years. I was his secretary for a bit, and then a court reporter. He was such a nice guy and very funny. I always enjoyed our time together. He made work so enjoyable. I’ll never forget that sly grin that always made me laugh. Wally and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. 

I went to high school at Wade Hampton with Wally. He was always friendly and a sharp dresser! Please accept my condolences.

Thoughts and prayers are with Wally’s family. I remember him from  our HS days at Wade Hampton.

Way back when I took guitar lessons from Wally. Very helpful, a prince of a guy, we became fast friends and had some great times. Sad to hear of his passing, condolences to all of his family.

I have not seen Wally for many years but remember him as a very nice guy and a really good guitarist. Prayers to his family.
