

Born on July 31, 1970, in Des Moines, Iowa, she was the daughter of David and Lynn (St. Clair) Martindale. Whitney met her husband, Aaron Burk, while serving at summer camps at Bob Jones University. They continued to work together in camps and with young people for their entire 32-year marriage. Whitney and Aaron have two sons: Conley (26) and Zachary (23). Whitney loved the Lord, and she loved people well. She was determined, and her greatest determination was to seek the Lord and bring Him glory!
Whitney graduated from Bob Jones University with a degree in Physical Education. She devoted her life to helping young people through teaching, serving with her family full-time at The Anchorage Camp, and most recently while serving on staff at Bob Jones University.
She loved sports and competition, particularly when her boys were playing. She loved to play the piano, especially along with young people singing about the Lord. She was legendary for her cinnamon rolls and her ability to catch anything thrown at her.
Whitney was preceded in death by her brother Kent Martindale. In addition to her parents, husband and sons, she is survived by her brothers Scott Martindale (Andrea) and Blake Martindale; parents-in-law Stan and Elaine Burk; sister-in-law Tara Martindale; and also, by beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and 11 nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Mackey Funerals and Cremations at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. Services will be held the following day, Saturday June 13, 2026, at Bob Jones University’s War Memorial Chapel, 1700 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29607. Family will briefly greet guests at 1:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM. Whitney will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd, Greenville, SC 29609.
