

Wilbur B. Greyard, Jr. was born on June 8, 1924 in Florence, SC to Wilbur B. Greyard, Sr. and Lillie Wilkins Greyard and was accomplished at everything he undertook. As a proud product of the Greatest Generation, he was a great student, a phenomenal athlete, a decorated pilot in WWII, a successful business executive and a dedicated family man. He passed away at the Woodlands at Furman on April 27, 2016 at the age of 91.
Will graduated from Greenville High School in 1941 where he was a top rated tennis player and South Carolina doubles champion. He joined the Army Air Corps in January 1944, and trained World War II pilots in England. After the war he returned to Clemson, was captain of the Clemson tennis team, and finished his degree with honors in February 1947. After beginning a 38-year career as an executive with JP Stevens & Company, in 1952 Will was moved with his family to Milledgeville, Georgia as plant manager. That year he won the city golf and tennis championships. Twenty years later his job took him to Rock Hill, SC and Shelby, NC before returning him to Greenville in 1982 until his retirement in 1989. For the next several years he built desktop computers for individuals and businesses in the Greenville area.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carolyn Auld Greyard and sister, Margaret Ellen Greyard Cline. He is survived by his two children, daughter Nancy Walker and husband Benny of Greenville, and son Jim Greyard and wife Charlene of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren, Dr. Will Greyard of Charlotte, NC, Emily Greyard Mitchell and husband Geoff of Spartanburg, SC, and Caroline Walker of Charleston, SC; 3 great-grandchildren Cannon, Gracy and Eloise Mitchell; and 8 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation for the kind and considerate care provided by the Woodlands at Furman.
A graveside service will be held at 1pm Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
