Our family did not know Bill directly, but he sounds like a wonderful man.  My family and I are taking care of two of his family members- Lily and Daisy. Many prayers for your family.  Peace and Blessings - The Dugans, Cherry Hill NJ.



I remember Bill dating my best friend Cathy Lawhon and Bill sent flowers for his prom to Cathy. She put the flowers in the freezer and came to my house crying "what would Bill say?" My father went out and bought another wrist corsage and Bill was none the wiser. Our back yards met and I ran to the fence to see Bill arrive in his Hudson. That was quite a car. He often drove my boyfriends to the house in his Hudson. I had the pleasure of meeting Eileen on several occasions in Greenville, and what a remarkable lady. They were soulmates.

Bill was one year behind me at Chamberlain High School. My main opportunity to get to know Bill was by way of the football team. Bill was one of the most intense players on our state championship team my senior year. He played to win every second of the game and he practiced as hard as anyone I can remember. Many years later in Greenville, I had the pleasure of meeting his son Jason at Jacobs Engineering where we worked together. Bill and Eileen moved to Greenville after retiring and we renewed our friendship, occasionally dining out together. Without a doubt, the loss of Eileen was a heavy blow to Bill. Fortunately his love for his family provided him with the incentive to carry on with his life as a devoted father. I spoke to Bill by phone only days before he passed. We were looking forward to having lunch together and discussing the effects of the pandemic on various sports. I have the utmost respect for Bill as a former team mate, as a Vietnam Era Veteran and as a friend. But, perhaps the thing I will respect the very most is the role model he will always represent as what a devoted husband and father should look like. May God Bless you Bill!

I first met Bill in elementary school . I was also his teammate on the western auto Braves.. our friendship extended through high school and into adulthood. Then, separated by Life and geography we would see each other at high school reunions.  About five years ago we had lunch in Greenville.  He was a natural leader and a loving  family man.. Were   someone to have asked me about Bill .. I would have said he was a good man.. a naturally very good man.. now he is with his loving wife and family and will be missed by all his many friends 

Although Poppop is no longer physically here to spend any more birthdays, holidays, or special events with me - such as my college graduation, my wedding, etc - I will always have the memories of the past with me. 

My favorite holiday memory of Poppop would have to be the year I got my first bicycle. Every year Poppop and Nanny would come over to our house to spend all of Christmas day with us. My brother and I weren't allowed to look into our living room to see what we got that year. We would have to wait upstairs for our grandparents to arrive, then we would eat our Christmas Quiche breakfast. THEN we were allowed to go open presents and get our first glimpse of the room. But, one particular year Poppop had other plans. As soon as he stepped foot in the door, his eyes gaped wide and yelled, "Wow! What a beautiful blue bicycle!"... needless to say my brother already had a bike and I knew exactly what to expect when it came time to play with our gifts after presents! 

Even though they left me too fast, I love you so much Poppop and Nanny. So bittersweetly glad you two could finally reunite!

So sad to hear the news of Grandpop's passing. I remember spending  summer holiday's in Florida with him and Nannie. They used to take us to Disney/Universal. We used to have so much fun, I remember Grandpop used to always make us laugh and loved to pull pranks!
In 2006 I was able to spend two weeks with Nannie and Grandpop which was really nice way to spend the end of my travels around the world. We chatted endlessly about sport, especially as over the years Grandpop taught me all about baseball and the NFL. We shared a love of movies  too :) 
He always sent me birthday and Christmas cards and gifts each year. He also has done the same  for my son Seth after he was born three years ago. A really kind and caring man that never forgot about you.  
I will miss him greatly but have nothing but fond memories of the times we spend together.. Love you Grandpop xx

So sad to hear of bills passing , he was a lovely kind uncle to me and a lovely husband to Eileen, always  showed me a good time on the times I visited them, a good guy .

I was very fortunate to meet Bill in 2014 when he called me to take care of his dogs. I liked him immediately he was talkative ,friendly and an absolute dog lover.

He actually helped me through a tough time when my husband passed away. We talked about things in common and how family is very important.

We both came to realize when we lost our spouses, that almost everything we possess is just stuff. That what you hold on to the most is your love and memories of your family.

I know Bill isn’t alone ,he’s with his wife again. 
His happiness is eternal.

I enjoyed getting to know Bill the past few years and the time I spent with him. He was easy to talk with and it was apparent he loved his family very much. We shared a love of dogs and he always said his puppies were thankful to me because I would give him ideas for training them and spoiling them. I loved seeing how much joy they brought to him as well as keeping his older dog Ginger young for a few more months. My deepest condolences for his family. Take comfort in knowing he is with his wife and I know that makes him happy. 

Grandpop was always so kind to me. As a kid, spending our summer holidays in Tampa at Constitution Drive was always something I was beyond excited about! I used to loved going out in the boat with Grandpop (with Pee Wee the dog!), sitting on his lap watching tv, and when him and Nannie would take my brother Mark and I to Dairy Queen! (Something we don’t have in England!)
We would always laugh (usually at something silly Nannie had done!) and I also remember how much he loved ‘entertaining’ me with his little tricks: rattling his car keys which would make Pee Wee run and hide under the bed (because he thought he was going to the vets!) or convincing me that his garage door was actually ‘magic’! All I had to say was “Garage door open” in a loud voice and..... it did! (It didn’t occur to me for a second that he had a remote control!)
In recent years, my memories of Grandpop are of the thoughtful and caring man he also was: he never ever forgot to send me, Andy, Theo or Elliot a birthday card - a role he took on after Nannie passed away (she would have been so impressed!)
I still can’t quite believe you’re  gone Grandpop, but I know you are with Nannie now which is what you would’ve wanted.
It also warms my heart that your great-grandson Theo is named after you (Theo William). Both Theo & Jackson will carry on your name.

Bill was one of my best friends in high school. He was a great friend and team mate. On the football field he was a real leader and inspired his team mates to play hard nosed ball. Off the field he was always encouraging me to quit goofing off and to behave myself. 
I regret that we lost touch for much of our adult lives - there have been some times I could have used Bills encouragement. 
He will never be forgotten.

My sincere condolences to the Buda family in the loss of your beloved father.  I recall you mentioned he lived in the upstate area when I contracted at Jacobs.

Overriding memories of Uncle Bill are playing cards in Warren Crescent where he would tease my cousin Susy mercilessly . 
When living in Oxford England, offering  me a lift home in the old car he had and it always breaking down. 
Generously giving  Andy and myself one of the best holidays we ever had  in Florida in 1979 ,with endless beach days and BBQ’s ,he and my Auntie Eileen did us proud.

 I have been lucky to have had a lovely Uncle like Bill  in my life and will miss him not being in the world . So grateful  I got to see him one last time in 2014 .
Rest in peace dear Uncle Bill, you and Eileen have some catching up to do . X

I remember Mr. Bill coming to my house for a Sauerbraten dinner. He loved  my cooking and I was just so pleased he did. Such a sweet kind man. My husband Rudy and I enjoyed his company whenever he was in town.  Rudy loved talking sports with Mr. Bill. I know he is going to miss those conversations about the Dodgers and the Yankees. Until we all meet again Rest In Peace Bill. We truly enjoyed your company and you will be missed. 

My sweet wonderful father in law, I will miss you so much. Bill (Dad) will always have a very special place in my heart forever. I remember when I first met Jason's dad. He was sitting in a hotel lobby waiting on Jason and I to arrive to Charleston for an event at the Citadel that weekend. He greeted me with the biggest kindest smile and welcomed me with open arms. Bill didn't seem to mind the fact that I was a NY Yankees fan. I knew that day we both would get along so well .  We had so many great talks when Jason and I would go up to Greenville to visit. We would sit for hours having our morning coffee and joke and laugh together. He also made me feel so special when he would tell me that Jason's Mum would have loved me. He told me we would have been best friends if she was still alive . I was sad I never got to meet Eileen, but all the stories  Bill would tell me about her made me feel close to her.  I'll always remember going to have pizza at Barley's,  our outings to local breweries, going to get coffee at Underground coffee,  St Patrick's day in downtown Greenville and how much fun we had taking snapchat pictures together that turned his face into a leprechaun.  He loved it! He thought it was great.  Our trips to the mountains and Pretty Place. So many wonderful memories with Bill in the 3 years that I got to know him.  Not only am I the luckiest woman to have met his son, my soulmate Jason, but I am definitely the luckiest girl to have had a wonderful father in law like Bill. I will miss my "texting buddy" we had daily chats almost everyday.  It won't be the same without you. I  know you are dancing and rejoicing in Heaven with Eileen. I love you Dad and will always cherish our times together.

Dear Dad,

I know you are looking down from heaven holding moms hand and smiling to us.  You invested a lot of time with me and I have so many memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life.  There is this one particular memory that always come back to me.  I don't remember the year but I was very young.  I was playing with my toys in the living room while you and mom were busy preparing our Barbecue chicken dinner.  I remember the smell of the smoky grill and mom in the kitchen preparing the sides.  I remember you coming into the house to get a plate to take the meat off the grill.  You left the door open because all you had to do is get the meat and come back in.  Mom must have gone behind you to close the sliding glass door as to not get smoke into the house.  Mom kept such an immaculate home that the windows were always sparkling clean.  After you collected the meat off the grill I saw you walk directly into the sliding glass door that mom closed and BBQ chicken flew in all directions.  Since the door was closed  I couldn't hear what you were saying while you picked up the meat off the ground.  But I do remember you were very animated in your expressions.  I remember that you chose to put butterfly stickers on the sliding glass door shortly after that incident.  I miss you Dad!  You worked so hard for the family and now you deserve to rest and rest with mom!

Although I haven’t seen Bill in many years, I remained fond of him. Bill was special to me. I was so proud that he was my brother-in-law.   Bill excelled in all his endeavors from football at the University of Florida, military, work and family.  I am comforted knowing he is now with his beloved Eileen. My heartfelt sympathy to his beloved son Jason.

I first met my stepfather Bill when I was 11 years old in Oxford, when he met my mum.  I remember seeing his boots and thinking how big are his feet! He was so tall and I thought very good looking.  We used to play cards every Sunday morning whilst mum cooked a roast lunch, which he loved.  Whoever won would be King or Queen, I would invariably be Princess, and he would tease me behind mum's back saying he was the Champion.  I would cry and tell mum.  When we came to the States he was very supportive of my school work, helping me whenever he could.  He was a very kind person, but firm when he needed to be. Sadly we lived far apart but I have the lovely memories of our numerous holidays with him, mum and Jason. Faye and Mark too remember the holidays with Nannie and Grandpop.  When Faye was a little girl he made her believe the garage door went up by magic whenever we came back from somewhere. He was so good with them when we visited, playing with them and taking Faye out on the lake in their boat. On our last visit with him he and Jason took Graeme and I to a Jazz club called Jack & Diane's in Greenville, and the  four of us had a great night and remember a few beers being drunk! I am so sad with him passing but know he is now with mum who I know he missed so much.  Rest in Peace Bill, love you xx

Billy was a great guy that people loved to be around and had a great sense of humor. While at my Aunt Paula’s house in Tampa Billy would always mention that there was either an alligator or snake that will come and get me at their lake. Billy was a true gentlemen and a great sports fan except for Spurrier and Garvey. You can tell Jason and Jackson are from the same special DNA , and should be very proud of their Dad and celebrate their great memories of his life. We are truly sorry for your loss
