
William Wallace Davies, 92, of Greenville, died on April 6, 2015 at home. He was preceded in death by his father Jack Davies and mother Hilda Wallace Wood. Born in Liverpool, England, Bill served in the Royal Navy during World War 2 for which he received the Pacific Star Medal, the Deference Medal, the 1939-1945 Star Medal and the War Medal. He retired from Greenville County School District. He was a longtime member and Elder of the Pickens Seventh-day Adventist Church. Bill loved soccer and music his entire life. He was a member of the Upstate Senior Band for many years and was also a member of the Greenville Hejaz Shriners Band. Bill is survived by his wife of 10 years, Phyllis Judkins Davies, a daughter, Susan Petras (Stephen), grandson, Stephen William Petras, granddaughter, Shayn Strittmatter (AJ), great-granddaughters, Sierra, Camryn and Jocelyn Strittmatter. He is also survived by a stepson, Dennis Adams (Betty), stepdaughters, Jane Shelton, Melody Hadley (Barry), Virginia Fuller (Everett), Jessie Judkins, 6 stepgrandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 12, 2015 at 3pm at the Pickens Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2503 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, SC 29671. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation at pulmonaryfibrosis.org or to the Pickens Seventh-day Adventist Church.
