William Walton Fecht, Sr., 92, loving husband of the late Gloria Masel Fecht, went to be with his Heavenly Father on October 7, 2014.
His son, William Walton Fecht, Jr. preceded him in 2004.
Born in Carthage, IL he was the son of the late Martin and Gladys Fecht.
During World War II, Bill served three years in the US Navy as a pharmacist’s mate, including caring for the wounded on D-Day. After graduating in 1948 from the University of Florida, Pharmacy School, he worked and later owned and operated Bewan’s Pharmacy in Miami, Florida.
A resident of Miami since 1922, he met and married Gloria in 1950. The family moved to Greenville in 1971. While his daughters were in college, he worked at Bob Jones University and Kash & Karry Pharmacy. He worked at Kmart Pharmacy until he retired. Bill was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Simpsonville.
Surviving are his two daughters Linda (Bob) Ingram and Laura (Ed) Looney; his daughter-in-law Betty Fecht; his grandchildren, Teresa Fecht, Michelle (Ryan) Owens, William W. Fecht, III, Michal (Carrie) Fecht, Laura Beth (Justin) Lark, Travis (Ashley) Via; and step grandchildren, Leslie (Jesse) Batten, Katie (Parker) Lawton, and Allie (Jon) Yates; and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 3:00pm in the Remembrance Chapel at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00pm in the Chapel.
