
Jerry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy G. Fedder, daughter, Karen of Charleston, SC, his son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Josephine, of Seneca, SC, and grandchildren, Leah Fuller of Summerville, and Jacob of Tel Aviv, Israel.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ross and sister-in-law, Helen.
Educated in the public schools of Easley, he was a graduate of the University of South Carolina, and an honor graduate of its Law School where he was editor of the Law Quarterly and Chief Justice of the Wig and Robe Honorary Law School Society. Additionally, he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Academic Society.
In 1952 Jerry married Nancy Gilbert of Walterboro, SC upon graduating Law School. He was commissioned as a First Lieutenant, Judge Advocate General Corps and stationed in Washington, DC, and in Fort Jackson, SC.
In 1955, the couple moved to Seneca, SC, where Jerry opened a Law Office, practicing until his retirement in 1995. During this time Jerry acted as City of Seneca Attorney for 18 years, and later Oconee County Attorney for 10 years. Additionally, he served on various boards and commissions, including the Governing Body of the Department of Social Services, SC Commission on Higher Education, an appointment by Governor Dick Riley to the SC Workers’ Compensation Commission and was the recipient of The South Carolina Order of the Palmetto awarded by Governor Carroll Campbell.
A lifetime member of the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue in Greenville, SC, he served as President and member of the Board.
In lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to do so may make contributions to The Endowment Fund of Congregation Beth Israel, in Jerry’s honor. The synagogue’s address is 425 Summit Drive, Greenville, SC 29609.
Graveside services will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery, 4814 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611 on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at
10:30 am.
