Born in Greenville, SC, Mr. Pollard was a son of the late George H. Pollard and Madeline Caldwell Pollard. He was a graduate of the first class to complete the 12th grade at Greenville High School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Pollard retired from Winn-Dixie after 57 years of service. He was a mason with Walden Lodge No. 274, AFM. He was a lifetime member of East Park Baptist Church where he served in various roles. Among his many interests, he enjoyed cooking, gardening, and he loved watching Westerns.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life of 57 years, Bea Pollard; a son, George Pollard; and a brother, Joe Pollard. He is survived by his daughter, Melanie R. Pollard; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at 1pm Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Mausoleum Chapel in Greenville Memorial Gardens with a funeral service following at 2pm. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
