Agop Chalekian of Greenwich, CT passed away peacefully at his home on March 27, 2024.
Agop is survived by his beloved wife Nafsika Chalekian. He is additionally survived by nieces, grand nieces and grand nephews living in Greece. Agop resided in Greenwich with his loving wife Nafsika since 1960 after marrying Nafsika Leontiadou on June 29, 1958 in Constantinople, modern day Istanbul, Turkey, from where they emigrated. Agop was particularly proud of his Armenian roots and was raised in a devoted and caring family tradition. After making Greenwich his new home, he spoke fervently of his American citizenship and lived passionately the American dream.
Agop was born March 6, 1931 on the Princess Islands, Istanbul and graduated with honors from university studying electrical engineering. In Greenwich, Agop enjoyed countless friendships where he was popular equally with tennis aficionados as well as professional business associates spanning several decades.
Agop was an avid soccer player participating in European leagues in early life. Agop later honed his horticultural creativity producing world class gardens, worthy of town tours. His artistic skills grew while painting in his home studio in Greenwich and he and Nafsika hosted numerous art exhibitions in town. Agop’s art pieces adorn countless walls throughout the United States.

Wake service will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT 06830. The memorial service will be at 7:00pm.
