
Mrs. Harreys, a retired travel agent, was born in New York City on January 13, 1918, to Frank P. Ball and Marian Ferguson Ball. She was eight years old when her family moved to Greenwich.
She attended Greenwich High School and graduated from the Sacred Heart Convent School in Noroton. For more than 20 years she worked in the travel department of the Putnam Trust Company. Mrs. Harreys was an active parishioner at St. Mary Church on Greenwich Avenue. After she retired, she worked for many years as a receptionist at the St. Mary parish center.
Her husband, James W. Scanlan, preceded her in death in 1960. Her second husband, Charles W. Harreys, died in 1990.
She is survived by six children: James W. Scanlan of Westport; Shelley Lewis of Boca Grande, Florida; Jeffrey Scanlan of Easton; Sharon Callahan of Darien; Christopher Scanlan of St. Pete Beach, Florida, and Peter Scanlan of Sarasota, Florida; a sister, Marianna Trowbridge, of Petaluma, California; eight nieces and nephews; 23 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at St. Mary Church 178 Greenwich Ave., Greenwich, on Friday (TODAY), October 22, 2010at 11:00 AM.
