Born in Richmond, Virginia, Andi was the daughter of George and Rita Emerson. She was raised in West Chester, Pennsylvania, and attended the Grier School in Tyrone, Pennsylvania, before continuing her education at Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, D.C.
After college, Andi began her career in New York City with the American Field Service. She later worked at Gallery Felix Flowers in Old Greenwich, where her appreciation for flowers, design, and natural beauty was reflected in her work.
Andi was a member of the Green Fingers Garden Club, where she served as president for two years. Her love of gardening and flowers was passed down from her mother, Rita, and became a lifelong passion that she shared with those around her.
Andi was also a longtime member of Innis Arden Golf Club and Riverside Yacht Club. She cherished time spent on the golf course with her closest friends, enjoyed playing bridge, and had a lifelong love of photography. She and her husband, John, loved traveling with friends and shared many cherished memories throughout their years together.
Andi had a gift for making friends wherever she went and will be remembered for her kindness, witty sense of humor, and devotion to her family, friends, and community.
She is survived by her two daughters, Wendy Emerson Putnam of Riverside, Connecticut, and Jennifer Putnam Maloney of Fairfield, Connecticut; her son-in-law, Mark Maloney; and her four beloved grandchildren, Lindsay Putnam Maloney, Tierney O’Neal Maloney, Charles Edward Maloney, and Finley Putnam Maloney. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Luther Putnam.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Riverside Yacht Club.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Andi’s memory to the Greenwich Hospital Foundation or the Greenwich Point Conservancy.
