Barbara Smith-Reid

Barbara Smith-Reid, currently a resident of Nathaniel Witherell, Greenwich, CT and Jelliff Mill Road, New Canaan and a 39 year resident of Old Greenwich passed away on August 27, 2012. She was predeceased by her husbands, William Reid Jr. of New Canaan and Leo M. Smith, the former Director of Medical Education at Stamford Hospital.

She is survived by her children, Susan Gerli Smith of Old Greenwich and Timothy Smith of Aurora, Colorado and one grandson, Derek Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas Gerli Quigley, and predeceased by two brothers, Joseph Gerli Potts, James M. Potts.

She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna R.C. church of Old Greenwich. She was also a Nurses Aide at Stamford Hospital during World War II, Founder of the Archeology Club, Assistant to the Director of “Archaeology as an Avocation” at Norwalk Community College, Founder “ Antiquity in your Backyard “ a traveling archaeology school program for students in Fairfield County and a teacher in nursery schools in Stamford, Darien and New Canaan.
