Chuck was born in Oakland, CA in 1923 to Charles W. and Estelle Grant Livingston. He lived in the San Francisco Bay area until moving to Old Greenwich, CT in 1954. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley after serving three years of military service during WWII. Two of these years were in the ETO as a rifle Company Unit Commander in combat with the 42nd Rainbow Division in France, Germany and Austria. He attained the rank of Captain and received the Silver Star, two purple hearts, the British Military Cross and French Legion of Honor.
His initial business career was in national newspaper advertising space sales in San Francisco, CA and New York, NY. When he retired in 1990 he was Eastern Sales Manager of American Agriculturalist, the farm magazine of the east. He and his wife, Marcia, have been married since January 1949. He has two married children; Grant (Andrea) of Niantic, CT and Barbara of Mahopac, NY. Five grandchildren; Kerry, Abigail, Grant Jr., Chase and Jack and also two great grandchildren Brendon and Paige.
Chuck’s community activities included membership in the OG Lions Club and the Rocky Point Club. He has served as a volunteer fireman with the Sound Beach Fire Department and President of the OGRCC. A long standing active member of the First Congregational Church of Greenwich having served as Deacon, Trustee, beloved Sunday School Teacher and choir member . His proudest musical accomplishment was being invited to join the Melody Men of the RMA. He also delivered for Meals on Wheels and volunteered time with the Greenwich Chapter of the American Red Cross.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church of Greenwich, Sound Beach Avenue, Old Greenwich, CT.
