My deepest sympathy.  My dad just told me of his passing. I am remembering the time he and dad put the walkie talkies under the tree on Halloween, fun and frightening for the kids, long time neighbors...

He was not only a good neighbor but a friend. I spent many afternoons at the station being his afternoon forman.along with many other of his friends.
He was a big joker at times. Ill never forget when he threw a hub cap at Bert Parks car for parking at the station

I feel so honored to be a part such a  beautiful service. When I was a young girl, I loved when my Uncle Dan, Aunt Margaret, and cousin Elisa came upstate to visit. I always wanted to sit next to Uncle Dan cause he was so funny. He loved to tease us with his sarcastic wit. I'm sure he's teasing Great Gramma Elisa & Gramma Lizzy now. I am so sad to hear of your loss, I know how much you both were loved by Dan.  I have so many fond memories, he was a father to all of us who had the pleasure of working there, and enjoyed the entertainment.  He had a great sense of humor, such a mild temper, although I can still remember his shoe size which he shared with many of us who deserved it.  I am a better person for having known and listened to him.  My best memories are his run to his Jeep to anwer the call at CCVFD when the horn went off, no concern for the traffic.  He had such an impact to all of us  from Cos Cob.

Dan was a wonderful neighbor and friend in addition to keeping my boys gainfully employed.  The little girls (not so little anymore)loved him too. He was one of a kind and I hope he will put in a good word for me with the Lord.

Danny hired me sight unseen in the spring of 1963. He handed me the keys and said close at 9. I have been away from  Cos Cob for over 30 years and that day seems like yesterday. One of the many boys he helped in his own special way.

Just received notice of the passing of your Dan.  As you well know, he was a wonderful man and a dear friend to us back in our younger days.  He had then and still today a great impact on our lives.  Our deepest sympathy goes out to you both.

To the Bartoli Family-

As a native of Greenwich who has lived here most of my 48 years, I shall always remember Dan fondly. As far back as I can remember, my parents frequented Dan's Service Station. He was a delightful man, and our family loved him. My sincere sympathy to you, and may he rest in peace.

OMG, I CANNOT believe that Dan is passed. I am sitting in a hotel in Maryland (information forwarded by family) . I remember Dan with such fondness and respect - I know that the world will be a much sadder place without him. 
  I send Margaret and Lisa my sincere condolences.  I will try to wrap up my business here Monday morning and HOPE to be able to be back in time for the service.
  I worked for Dan at the station so I guess I qualify as one of "his sons" and I know how kind of a woman Margaret is and how Dan absolutely treasured his daughter.  Dan was absolutely in love with both of you !! I remember how his face would light up like a rainbow when either of you came in to work.
  Dan was an absolute inspiration to so many of us in Cos Cob - always encouraging us to achieve the best we could hope to be. Never an admonishment that wasn't well deserved. 
  I also can testify to his "sense of humor" and could regale you for hours with the jokes he played on people. And I remember him and Joe Garvee sitting for hours and discussing "things".
  Dan was an amazing man - I know that words cannot express how much I will miss him.
