Debra Ann Tracey, age 54, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Saturday June 23rd, 2018 at Bridgeport Hospital. Debra was born in Bronx, New York on September 19th, 1963 to Joan Baigis and John Murphy.

Debra was a Pre-K teacher at the Putnam Indian Field School in Greenwich, CT for 28 years. She taught with enthusiasm and compassion and was passionate about working with children. Debra was a resident of Darien, CT and more recently of Stratford, CT where she lived with her three children, Kristin, Allyson and Liam as well as her husband Peter Gall and her stepson, Cody Gall.

Debra and Peter Gall were married on May 27th, 2006 and renewed their vows for their 10 year wedding anniversary in 2016. They celebrated their vow renewal surrounded by family and loved ones and enjoyed a reception at their home in Stratford.

Debra’s favorite activities always involved her being surrounded by family and friends. She loved to cheer on her children at Irish dance competitions and was perhaps the loudest fan at her son’s soccer games and track meets. She loved being involved with the Irish dancing community and enjoyed watching her children dance with the Lynn Academy of Irish Dance. Debra often enjoyed trips to Block Island with her family, and loved to sit on the patio at Ballards listening and dancing to live music. Although Debra enjoyed the busyness of her day to day life, she also enjoyed her simple Saturday nights in with her dear friend Clarissa and loving husband Peter.

Debra will be remembered for her love of life and her joyous personality. Debra loved telling stories about her three children whom she cared for and loved deeply. She is survived by her mother Joan Dascoli, her husband Peter Gall, her stepson Cody, her three children, Kristin, Allyson and Liam Tracey and their father Michael Tracey of Greenwich, CT. Her death is preceded by that of her father, John Murphy and her loving stepfather Joe Dascoli.

Debra’s family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Thursday the 28th at Leo P. Gallagher and Son funeral home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday the 29th at 10:00 am, at Sacred Heart Church, 95 Henry Street, Greenwich, CT. Burial will follow at Putnam Cemetery, Greenwich, CT. We were proundly sad to hear of Debra's passing . We remember her passion for life and love, her generous and unselfish nature, and how she embraced every one of our family with her love. We miss her but know that her spirit will live on in each of us. She gave so much of herself to her family and friends. Her children will always have a part of her fresh and inspiring spirt in each of them. We say goodbye but know that she will not be forgotten.

Our prayers are with you during this difficult time. Debra was a beautiful lady and a beautiful soul. The first time I met her, (Through Chris) She welcomed me with open arms. She will be missed but stay close to each other and draw on the beautiful memories that you have of Debra, as a wife, mother, co-worker and friend. I love this quote from David Harkins;
“You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

My first memory of Debra was at Kristin’s birthday party at their house. I was a nervous wreck since I was dating her ex husband and figured I would be judged. The nervousness ended quickly when I was received with a big hug. Debra made me feel as if we were friends for ever. We got along instantly. She was amazing. Her kids are amazing which I know came from a mother who adored her children and always will. I will miss the great smile she always had in her face. She will will be missed dearly.
