Survivors include his wife, Marie Joyce. Two sons, Stewart Joyce and wife, Lori and their children, Lesley, Natalie and Michelle from South Dakota. And Tony Joyce (England) and his daughter, Ashley (California). His brother, Ken Joyce (England) and family, and sister Beryl Koerber (England) and family.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Beryl and daughter Lesley.
Derek's life included serving in the RAF, and playing professional soccer. He played soccer well into his 50's. He was an avid sports fan including golf, football, hockey, and all other sports. He enjoyed travelling and seeing his grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest in Leicester, England. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at 12 PM at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St. Greenwich, CT 06830.
