Diane Powis

Diane Meryl Powis (nee: Romley) of Greenwich, Connecticut passed away on December 26, 2021 at age 54 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Mount Vernon, New York to Victor and Madelon Romley. Diane grew up in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Diane worked for 16 years at Stamford Hospital as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and as a Senior Psychologist, followed by three years as a Health and Rehabilitation Psychologist at Greenwich Hospital. She joined Aspira Women’s Health in 2020 as Chief Spokeswoman. Diane was a passionate reader, often finishing several books per week. With her guitar in hand, she enjoyed playing with her School of Rock bandmates and performing in front of friends and family. Diane spent years running casually and then, ultimately, in the New York City marathon, while other sports interests included tennis and basketball. In recent years, she became actively involved in women’s health advocacy, with a specific focus on ovarian cancer research, therapeutic drug development and disease detection. Her greatest joy in life, though, was her children. She will be remembered by all for her laughter, compassion, grace and bravery.

Diane is survived by her husband of 27 years, Graham; children, Ben and Sarah; father, Victor, and his wife, Janice; brother, Ken, and his wife, Ditas; and numerous other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her mother, Madelon.

A celebration of Diane’s life will be held in the spring when all who loved her can safely join together.
