of Cos Cob, Connecticut, passed away in peaceful sleep on January, 8th 2014. She is predeceased by her husband, Fred Lanzetta and her parents Armando Sacasas, Emma Feldner, and her brother Armando Sacasas.
Dolores’ family was her center of gravity. Her friends were extended members of her already large family. She had a way of seeing the light in each person she met an made each person believe they could do things that they didn’t know what they were capable of by offering encouragement, unyielding strength, and the will to overcome any adversity. Dee was a graceful force in the lives she touched. She continuously shared with her family and friends how blessed she felt and how proud she was of her children and grandchildren.
Dee lived life courageously and passionately with a compass always fixed on true north. She was a cancer survivor, sports enthusiast, avid antique collector and possessed a unique love and appreciation for real estate. Many know her as Mrs. Tennis…“The” Tennis Ambassador for the Tri-state area. She mentored so many souls that tennis was more than sport and athletic skill. It taught life lessons and built relationships and families within her favorite sport. It not only helped Dee power through many of life’s challenges, but bestowed those same graces to many she loved. It was more than a sport to her. It was a part of every fiber of her being and spirit.
Dee is survived by her children Richard Lanzetta (Trina), Oshkosh Wisconsin; Donna Hardy (Russ), West Port, Connecticut; Denise Ballantyne (Tom) Los Angeles, California; Joseph Lanzetta (Liza), San Antonio, Texas; Fred Lanzetta, (Marco) New York, New York; Grandchildren Matthew, Christopher and Samantha Hardy; Taylor Ballantyne, Luke and John Lanzetta, Samantha Lee and Adam Smerconish. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dolores Lanzetta Memorial Fund which will support her love of tennis and her favorite charities. Mail to: 17 Pine Drive, Westport, Connecticut, 06880.
