Donny was a colleague at Morgan Stanley. Rough on the exterior and just an enjoyable person to work with. Great to be stuck in an airport with - and it happened several times. I enjoyed the time we spent together at MS. Years later I moved to Greenwich and ran into Donny on the metro north. We had a great time catching up over the many train trips we took together. I will miss his wit and dry sense of humor.  May Donny’s memory be blessing to his family. 

Don is and will always be a man bigger than life and it means so much to me to have known him for the past decade. He was a man of few words, but when he did speak it was full of compassion, love for his family and friends, and his signature dry humor.

One year we got him an iron brand with the Republican elephant for use on burgers on the grill. Shortly after we heard stories about him wanting to brand anything he could get a hold of - breads, furniture, etc.  We were glad to find it didn't escalate to him giving himself (or the rest of the family!) a tattoo.

His presence and influence will be missed dearly. I'll always think of him and crack a smile when I think of summer pool parties, talking about current events, and branding steaks.

Don and I never met, but I felt like I knew him through his daughter, Devin.  Devin would often convey messages between her father and me, as I believe we shared many things in common.   I know how close Devin is to her father.  I also know that nothing will ever replace his love and guidance that was such a part of Devin's world, a world that  is diminished by his passing.    My heartfelt condolences go out to Devin and the O'Brien family.

Very sorry to hear about Don’s passing. Had nothing but good memories and was always a treat when our paths crossed. Will remember him fondly. My condolences to Devin, Casey, and Smalls. ❤️

DOB was one of the kindest and most genuine people I have ever met.  Our paths crossed at Morgan Stanley in 2005 where his sense of humor basically kept me sane for three years.  We remained friends long after our time working together and I was always so delighted to see him when my travels brought me back to NYC.  DOB was a mentor and friend and someone I relied on heavily after my father passed away.  I admired his honesty, his integrity, and the love that he had for his family - the world needs more men like DOB and his loss is palpable.  Please accept my condolences and know that he made a big difference in my life and I am grateful to have had the chance to be a small part of his.

So sorry to hear about Donny. He and I worked together for some good years at Morgan Stanley where he played a key role as lead underwriter.  He was cynical yet positive and a reliable partner in trying to make us better. My favorite memories were being stuck in airports trading obscure rock trivia factoids.  My condolences to the O’Brien family. 

Don will always have a special place in our hearts. His love for his family (and animals) will be forever cherished and will be truly missed. Sending lots of love and prayers to the entire O’Brien family.  Love, Helen

Man of a few words but loved his family endlessly. He was a character and every time I came over to see Devin he was welcoming and hysterical (I got his dry humor). Thoughts and prayers to the O’Briens.

We were fortunate to have shared many happy moments together with Don and Christina…Don always made us laugh with his dry humor and he will be greatly missed!!  Our sincerest condolences to Christina, Casey and Devin during this difficult time!!
