

He was born in Stamford, Connecticut on January 11, 1932 to the late Patrick and Delia Burns. Ted is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anne Hone Burns of Greenwich and his two children Edward and Patrick Colin. He was blessed with three grandsons: Edward “Hardy”, Charlie and Jake Burns who he adored. Ted was predeceased by two sisters: Helen (Burns) Pezzimenti and Mary (Burns) Gallagher of Stamford. He graduated from Fairfield Preparatory School and the University of Connecticut. Ted served in the Korean War and was a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. After the war, he had a very successful career at Electrolux, Nabisco and the Quality Bakers Cooperative. Ted was an active member of the former American Legion Drum Corps and led the band for many years as the Drum Major. He was an active member of the Greenwich Retired Men’s Club as well as a volunteer at the Greenwich Hospital and a Roman Catholic minister of Holy Communion. He dedicated many years as a volunteer IRS Tax preparer. Friends may call from 4pm to 8pm on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son funeral home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 10am at St. Agnes Church in Greenwich, CT followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich, CT. Ted will be missed dearly and his warm and generous spirit will never be forgotten.
