
Edward graduated from Greenwich High School in 1953, and received his Associate's Degree from Norwalk Community College. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1953-57.
He worked as a firefighter for the Greenwich Fire Department Local 1042 from 1965-1977 and was promoted to fire inspector in 1977, a position he held until he retired from the Department in 1985. He worked for Housing Authority Insurance in Cheshire, CT, and after his retirement he enjoyed working part time for the Greenwich Alliance for Education driving the Story Mobile.
Edward was a devoted husband of 55 yeas to his wife Marjorie, who survives him, and a loving father to his daughters Patricia (New York, NY) and Kathleen Biggs (Milford, CT) and his son Joseph and his wife Pamela (Port Chester, NY). He leaves behind five grandchildren who gave him great joy: Adam Biggs, Thomas Biggs, his wife Kaitie, Edward Biggs, and Molly and Johnny McHugh. His two sisters Celine Crothers and Jean Duffy survive him.
Besides his parents, Edward was predeceased by two grandchildren, Bridget and David.
Edward loved to sing and was a member of the choirs at St Clement’s and St. Mary's churches. He loved spending time with his family and travelling with his wife.
Visitation will be at Gallagher's Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street in Greenwich on Friday, November 24 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Saint Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, 535 Fairfield Avenue, Stamford CT on Saturday, November 25 at 10:30 a.m.
