Fred is survived by Dr. Marc Shur, his partner of 24 years; his siblings Rich Lanzetta (Trina) Oshkosh, WI; Donna Hardy (Russ) Barnstable, MA; Denise Ballantyne (Tom) Phoenix, AZ; Joseph Lanzetta (Liza) Camden, SC. and his nieces and nephews Matthew and Christopher Hardy, Samantha Spurr, Taylor Ballantyne, Luke and John Lanzetta, Samantha Lee and Adam Smerconish.
He attended High School in Mamaroneck, NY and graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, 1986.
Professionally, Fred was a fitness trainer, a residential property owner and manager, and a writer. It is not an exaggeration to say that he was obsessed with all aspects of real estate and a perfect afternoon for him was visiting open houses to tour beautiful homes, marveling at the designs and structures and landscaping. In the past several years, he was grateful for the opportunity to focus on his writing, working simultaneously on multiple scripts and screenplay projects from his home in Connecticut.
But Fred never defined himself by his work or career or hobbies. Rather, he most truly defined himself as a member of his family… brothers and sisters, nieces and nephew, aunts and uncles, more cousins than anyone could ever count or keep track of, and his partner. His greatest heroes in life were his mother and father, and he kept their memory alive every single day with never ending anecdotes and stories and reflections. One of Fred’s greatest joys and achievements was adding to that family and being a dad to his and his partner’s beloved bulldog, Armando, named for his maternal grandfather.
Fred’s favorite word was “fun”, and he always reminded everyone that his favorite part of life was synchronicity. These words came to be the very foundation of who he was, and he lived them exquisitely every day. Fred’s gifts to his family and friends were his boundless happiness and optimism, his generous love, his crystal pure spirit, his fierce devotion, and his uncontrollable laughing delight in simply living his life.
He was breathtakingly grateful for living each and every day and endlessly grateful for the amazing life he and his partner created in New York and Connecticut. For so many of those who knew him, Fred was the best and most shining example of a life well lived; with faithfulness, loyalty, centeredness and love.
