Gertrude Rankin Hutto

Gert attended Hathaway Brown School in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Westover College in Middlebury, Connecticut.

Gert and her husband Bill have been married for 48 years and lived the last 34 years in Lucas Point, Old Greenwich, Connecticut.

Gert is survived by her brother Henry P. Rankin of Kansas City, Missouri, her sister Anne Rankin of Cleveland, Ohio and her four children by a previous marriage: Thomas D. Burley of Fern Bay, NSW, Australia; Charles H. Burley of Bend, Oregon; Jeffrey R. Burley of St. Louis, Missouri; and Joyce Ann Starr of Concord, New Hampshire. She is also survived by Bill's three children by a previous marriage; Debora Tandal of Makaha, Hawaii; Donna Foster of Stratford, Connecticut; and William H. Hutto of Makaha, Hawaii.

Gert's main focus was raising her four children and doing volunteer work for the Junior League of Greenwich, the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.

She enjoyed bridge, tennis, golf and sailing. She sailed out of Indian Harbor Yacht Club and was a member of Innis Arden Golf Club where she got her "hole-in-one."

Viewing will be Friday, March 4th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich, CT.

There will be a private family burial service at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio.
