Gladys Casella Kelly

Born on January 17, 1931, in Yonkers, New York, Gladys was the daughter of Anthony and Theresa "Tessie" Casella. She spent the majority of her life in Greenwich, where she built a life centered around her family and the many interests that brought her joy.

Gladys was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Kelly, with whom she shared 42 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her seven brothers, Edward, Richard, Andrew, John, Raymond, Louis, and Walter Casella, and her sister, Florence.

Before her marriage, Gladys worked for the New York Telephone Company and the Herald Statesman. Throughout her life, she continued to stay active through various part-time positions in Greenwich, including Carnival Card Stop, the Hallmark Store, The Dress Box, her son Bruce’s store, Central Park, and The Flower Shop Gallery, where she especially enjoyed designing beautiful floral arrangements.

Above all, Gladys was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pride in raising her children and remained a strong presence in their lives, helping to keep her family connected through the years. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, gardening, drawing and completing 1000 piece jigsaw puzzles. She was also known for her delicious homemade meatballs, a favorite that became part of her family’s memories. Gladys had a feisty personality, a strong spirit, and was never afraid to speak her mind. Her determination, sense of humor, and unmistakable spark made her uniquely Gladys and will be remembered by all who knew her.

Gladys is survived by her four children, Bruce Kelly, Brian Kelly, Karen Kelly, and Barbara Kelly; her daughters-in-law, Iwona Kelly and Marianne Kelly; her five grandchildren, Sean, Morgan, Nicole, Victoria, and Elliot; and her six great-grandchildren, Patrick, Andrew, Skylar, Dylan, Laurel, and Timothy.

Gladys will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Her devotion to those she loved, her strength, her spirited personality, and the many memories she created will remain a lasting legacy for generations to come.
