Gregory McLaughlin passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at the age of 78 in his home in Greenwich, CT surrounded by his family. Born in New York City, he was the youngest son of John and Margaret “Babe” McLaughlin, and kid brother to John Jr., Mary Louise, and H. Kelly.
Greg grew up in New York and always valued his Jesuit education from the Loyola School and Boston College. He served his country as a Naval Aviator before embarking on a career in finance at Morgan Stanley. In 1984, he married the love of his life, Vickie, and became the proud and loving father to her daughters, Molly and Annie. In 1986, Nora was born and their era as a family of five began.
Greg enjoyed his work, and also explored many hobbies. In his younger years, he was an avid equestrian and competed in hunter-jumper events. He camped, fished, and played golf with close friends and complete strangers. His witty humor could get even the most stoic to laugh. When he asked people questions about themselves he was there to truly hear their answer. His toasts were tear-jerkers, his parties were epic, and his handshake was firm.
Retirement started with running his first marathon at age 50 and fumbling through Mandarin classes while earning a Masters in Asian Studies. He loved time with his grandchildren, whether visiting farms in Wisconsin or enthusiastically cheering at little league games. At every stage of his life, Greg forged deep connections with the people around him and was generous beyond belief.
He was cherished by many and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his loving wife Victoria (Bishop) McLaughlin, sister-in-law Gail McLaughlin, daughters Molly (Michael) Bogdan, Annie McLaughlin, and Nora McLaughlin (Akram Abed), and his six adoring grandchildren (Tommy, Drew, Kevin, & Katie Bogdan and Laughlin & Zina Abed). He cared deeply for each one of his many nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents John & Margaret McLaughlin and siblings John Jr. (Toni), Mary Louise, & H. Kelly McLaughlin.
The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald MacKenzie for his exceptional care and support.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home in Greenwich, CT. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, August 20 at 10:30 AM at St Michael the Archangel Church in Greenwich, CT.
