Joan Williams Sokoloff, beloved mother of Alexander and Katherine, wife of Boris Sokoloff Jr., died on October 8, 2011 while under hospice care at Nathaniel Witherell, surrounded by friends and family. Born in Greenwich, December 24 1925, Joan was the daughter of Frank Davol Williams and Mildred Eckert Williams and sister of Frank Davol Williams Jr. She attended the Greenwich Academy (’41) and subsequently graduated from Connecticut College. She was married to Boris Sokoloff for 62 years and together they lived a rich and full life residing for many years in Greece, Switzerland as well as Greenwich. She is survived by her husband Boris, children Alexander (wife Peggy), Katherine and grandchildren Ana, Nick and Alex. She was greatly loved and a light has gone from out from the lives of her friends and family who will never forget her warmth, compassion, good humor, adventurous and kind spirit.
