
Born in Mount Vernon, New York, she was the daughter of Samuel and Josephine DeCarlo. JoAnn graduated from Manhattanville College and received several master’s degrees in early childhood education and psychology. She was employed by Town of Greenwich and worked as an elementary school teacher in several Greenwich schools but was a kindergarten teacher at New Lebanon School for many years until she retired.
She was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Church in Greenwich, CT. JoAnn enjoyed spending time with her family. As a younger person she was an avid boater and remained a member of the Greenwich Boat and Yacht Club until today. She will be remembered for her fun loving personality, brilliant blue eyes and charming smile. JoAnn loved music and dancing and she was always the first person on the dancefloor.
She is survived by her four daughters Lynn Ann Imperia Fortino, Janice Imperia Estis, Karen Imperia Goldsmith and Laura Imperia O’Malley and their spouses and brother Robert DeCarlo She is survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husbands Enio R. Imperia and Joseph R. Sclafani.
