John Currie, an accomplished architect with a multi-disciplinary practice in the metropolitan area for over 35 years, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2016. A longtime Greenwich resident, he was 60. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on January 26, 1956, the son of Donald J. And Dorothea Currie. He received a Bachelor's of Architecture from Syracuse University in 1979. He and his high school sweetheart, Kathy Rebh, were married in 1980 in Poughkeepsie. In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Currie leaves behind three children, Sarah (Jon) Halpern of New York, N.Y., Laura (Gary) Barr of Westport, Conn., and Matthew Currie and his fiancee Jessica Dero of Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Sophia and Olivia Halpern and Oliver Barr; and a brother, Daniel. What he loved best, aside from his family to whom he was devoted, was spending time outdoors, whether skiing in Vermont, boating on Long Island Sound, or playing tennis at Manursing Island Club in Rye, N.Y. John Currie prided himself on his work, and those who knew him were proud to call him their friend. He was always ready to lend a hand and if there was an opportunity to spend time with his family, he seized the day. A private service will be held in Greenwich on February 26.
