John Frank Dobrucky Jr.

John Frank Dobrucky, Jr., a lifelong resident of Greenwich and a devoted Christian, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Born at Greenwich Hospital on April 8, 1941, he was the beloved son of the late John Frank Dobrucky Sr. and Vicky (Rozmus) Dobrucky.

Jack lived a life grounded in faith, family, and the simple joys of God's creation. A lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, his Christian faith was the foundation of his life and carried him through both life's blessings and its challenges.

He is survived by his loving sons, John F. Dobrucky III of Greenwich and Thomas T. Dobrucky of Powhatan, Virginia; his cherished grandchildren, Courtney (Nathan) Howard, T.J. (Taylor) Dobrucky, Tyler (Jackie) Dobrucky, and Tanner (Jordan) Dobrucky; and his adored great-grandchildren, Tuesday, Piper, Leni, Harvie, Scarlett, and Theodore. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Dobrucky of Linden, Tennessee, and his nephew, Billy Dobrucky (Karen) of Stamford, Connecticut.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice, his best friend and soulmate, whose passing during the COVID pandemic left an immeasurable void in his life. He missed her deeply every day, cherishing the memories of the many cruises, vacations, long weekends, and lifelong friendships they shared together.

Raised in the Byram neighborhood of Greenwich, Jack attended Byram School and Greenwich High School. As a young man, he was active in the Boys Club of Greenwich, participated in Sokol gymnastics, and attended gymnastics camp. Some of his happiest childhood memories were spent fishing with his father and brother along Byram Shore. During his high school years, he also developed a love for horseback riding and treasured the time he spent with cousins on his aunt and uncle's farm in Binghamton, New York.

Jack built a respected career as a concrete and steel inspector. Outside of work, he pursued many passions throughout his life. He loved golfing until neuropathy made it difficult for him to continue. He later turned his creativity to winemaking, restoring an old boat, and watercolor painting. After Alice's passing, Jack spent his winter months in Florida, where the warmer weather and quieter pace gave him time for reflection while keeping close the memories of the love they had shared. He also enjoyed taking rides on the Island Beach ferry, visiting Tod's Point and Byram Shore, and remaining close to the waters that had brought him peace throughout his life. At one time, he held a commercial lobster license, reflecting his lifelong connection to Long Island Sound.

John was a proud member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sokol Lodge 7, Bruce Men’s Golf Club, and the Art Society of Old Greenwich. Whether through his faith, his hobbies, or his time with family and friends, he found joy in living a full and grateful life.

Though his family grieves his passing, they take comfort in God's promise of eternal life and rejoice in knowing that Jack has been reunited with Alice in the presence of the Lord. His steadfast faith, quiet strength, love of the water, artistic spirit, and deep devotion to his family will be remembered always.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, August 7, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gallagher Funeral Home on Arch Street in Greenwich. A service of victory will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 286 Delavan Avenue, Greenwich.
