

Joseph William Roe, son of Joseph Patrick Roe and Marguerite Mary (Baker) Roe, was born on April 10, 1931 in New Rochelle, New York. Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his daughter Kathleen Mary who died in 1959, and his younger brother Brian. Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jacqueline Perry Roe, his son Christopher Joseph of Riverside, CT, and his daughter Mary Ellen Brezovsky and her husband Bill of Stamford,CT. In addition, he leaves behind a granddaughter, Alyssa Yantz and her husband Chris of Trumbull, as well as a grandson Andrew Brezovsky of Poughkeepsie, NY, and a beloved great-grandson Hunter Yantz.
Joe attended Blessed Sacrament High School and Iona College. He always expressed his appreciation for the Christian Brothers, who made it possible for him to be the first in his family to receive a college education. After graduating from Iona he served for 5 years in the U.S. Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Once discharged from the Army, Joe and Jackie married and moved to Mt. Vernon, NY. Joe had a 30+ year career as Manager of the Commercial Insurance Division of the Aetna Casualty and Surety Company in New York City. He was an active participant in Sacred Heart Church in Mt. Vernon, NY for many years; he especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. In later years, after moving to Connecticut, Joe enjoyed spending time at Greenwich Point. After retirement, Joe joined the Greenwich Retired Men’s Association where he played bridge, and enthusiastically sang with the Melody Men.
His family will miss him very much, but are comforted that he is now in the Lord’s’ hands and is surrounded by many beloved family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, January 20th at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4 Riverside Avenue, Riverside, CT 06878. Please observe COVID protocols including social distancing and wearing masks.
