

Margaret "Peggy" Crichton Lutz, 84, was born on August 7, 1941, in Greenwich, CT, and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 3, at her daughter Megan's home. Peggy was a warm and joyful woman with a wonderful sense of humor. She was always smiling, always ready to laugh, and she brought happiness to the people around her. She had a way of making others feel comfortable and loved.
Peggy devoted herself to fundraising for nonprofit organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the National MS Society, and Pacific House in Stamford. She also served as President of the Greenwich PTA, reflecting her commitment to her community and helping others.
Prior to moving to Megan’s home, Peggy spent many happy years at Hill House in Riverside, where she made many dear friends and truly loved her time there. She found joy in reading, needlepoint, and painting. Summer was her favorite season, and she loved spending time at Rocky Point Club in Old Greenwich, where she had been a member since 1974. Peggy loved swimming in the Long Island Sound and being like a grandmother to so many.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Megan Lutz of Woodbury, CT; her sons, Ted Lutz of Greenwich, CT and Matthew Lutz and his wife, Kristen, of Winnetka, IL; grandchildren Lindsey Hillery and her husband Kieran, and Mae Yenter (Megan’s children) and Michael, Brody, and Kyle Lutz (Matthew’s children); and great-grandson Finn Hillery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret Dolores Weigold and Peter Andrew Crichton, her brother, Peter Thomas Crichton and her former spouse Edward Lutz.
Peggy will be remembered with deep love by her family and by the many friends whose lives she brightened. Her memory will live on in the laughter, love, and joy she shared so freely.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 31 at 10 AM at Saint Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside, CT.
