June 13, 1943 – May 29, 2018
Mary ("Mimi") Carlin Camp passed away peacefully on Tuesday surrounded by family at her home in Greenwich, CT. Mimi was born on June 13, 1943, the only child of John E. and Susanna ("Sue") F. Carlin in Cleveland, Ohio. In her early years, she lived with her parents on Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, which was home to the great entrepreneurs of that era. The Carlins, the last of the original families to leave Euclid Avenue, threw a farewell ball when they moved to Shaker Heights, Ohio in 1950, proclaiming the end of an era and likely making Mimi the last person to have lived on the street many called "Millionaires' Row." Mimi attended Beaumont School for girls and graduated from Immaculata College, majoring in English. Mimi enjoyed the company of close friends, and treasured time with her family. She possessed a charm and warmth that drew people to her. Mimi doted on her four children and took great pride in raising them. She embraced her title as 'Nana Mimi' later in life and was ever inquisitive of her grandchildren's latest adventures. Mimi was a resident of Greenwich for over 40 years, a longtime member of Greenwich Country Club and parishioner of St. Michael's and St. Mary's churches in Greenwich. She was very active in local Greenwich organizations such as the Junior League, and Chaired the Brunswick School fashion show for several years. She is survived by her husband of over three decades, Dr. Walter Atwood Camp; her children with her first husband Richard ("Dick") A. McDonough III , including her sons and daughters-in-law Richard A. ("R.A.") McDonough IV and Gerda-Marie McDonough of Santa Monica , CA; John C. McDonough and Susan C. McDonough of New Canaan, CT ; and Creighton ("Craig") S. McDonough and Claire R. McDonough of New York, NY; her daughter Carlin S. McDonough of Savannah, GA; her grandchildren Eliza L. McDonough, Perry A. McDonough, Lily E. McDonough, John ("Jack") C. McDonough and Creighton Sean ("Sean") McDonough Jr.;her stepson Thaddeus Camp;her stepdaughter and step-son-in-law Melinda C. Caltabiano and Christopher Caltabiano. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at St. Mary's Church, 178 Greenwich Ave, Greenwich, CT, with a reception afterward at Greenwich Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross in honor of Mary C. Camp

I worked for the Carlin Family during College in the late 1970's. . I received room , board, a stipend, tuition, books and fees. Mimi's mother was very generous to me and Mimi always treated me with kindness and care. I could not afford College otherwise. I remember Mimi had a great love for her father and fiercely loved her children. Mimi and her Mother challenged each other often, but ultimately there was a strong Mother/daughter bond that could not be broken. I chauffeured Mimi around Cleveland during one of her trips home. She had great stories about growing up in the Cleveland Old Guard Society. I think we laughed the whole car ride. I am sure she will be missed by many. I am sorry for your loss.
