Matthew Caulfield Schwab

Matthew Caulfield Aloysius Schwab of Greenwich and Salisbury, CT, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend, died unexpectedly at the age of 54 on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, while traveling abroad on business. He is survived by his wife Kelli Stenstrom, his son Thomas (Tom) Fisher (13), his mother Eileen, his sisters Kate and Claire, and Claire's husband, Stephen Vogel. Also surviving him are his nephews Baird Welykoridko (20) and Owen Vogel (14) and his nieces Ainsley Welykoridko (22) and Maddie Welykoridko (17). He was predeceased by his father, Terrance Schwab, in 2004 and his brother-in-law, Paul Welykoridko, in 2019.

Matthew was born on March 9, 1971, in New York, New York. He graduated from Portsmouth Abbey School in 1989 and Kenyon College in 1993, where he majored in history and sociology. He worked in finance and commodities for over 30 years, 14 of which at Goldman Sachs where he was a Managing Director. He joined Quantix Commodities as Head of Investor Solutions in 2021. Matthew and Kelli married in 2023, having first fallen in love 34 years prior at Kenyon and reuniting again later in life. Matthew's son Tom meant the world to him, and being his father was one of his greatest joys. Matthew was a man of keen intelligence and wit, with a great sense of curiosity and humor. He had an avid interest in history and politics, read voraciously and never turned down a good debate. He loved cooking, wine, travel, and, most of all, spending time with his family and many friends. He believed in the American dream and had a deep faith in God. He was a good man and will be sorely missed by those who loved him dearly.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Saint Mary Church, 178 Greenwich Avenue, Greenwich, CT 06830.
