I was very surprised and saddened to hear of Melissa's passing. I was a friend of Jennie's and knew Melissa when the family was living in Briarcliff. So my memory of Melissa was when she was a very bright and pretty little girl, always full of life and with a mischievous smile! I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family and say how sorry I am for their loss.

Melissa was one of my first true crushes.  Met her on vacation in Antigua at Half Moon Bay when she was traveling with Lynn Torrey. Great smile and happy memories cruising the beaches with her that winter holiday. I recall trying to figure out how to get to Cos Cob from my home in NJ to visit her and writing countless letters.  You'll always be locked in my memories and heart Melissa. RIP

Thinking of Melissa brings back the fondest memories of high school.  My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.  Someone else posted here that heaven has gained another beautiful angel and I couldn't  agree more. Rest in Peace my dear old friend.

I am devastated to hear of Melissa's sudden passing.  Melissa and I met in junior high school and were instantly best friends.  We shared so very much - note writing, rock and roll, sleepovers with yummy coffee cake breakfasts, tennis, volleyball, gymnastics, proms, Florida, Antigua, Barbados, scuba diving, parasailing, sunning, and so very much more.  
Our friendship had just been rekindled from the distance life puts between people at times.  It felt like we hadn't missed a beat or spent a day apart.  We could talk about anything, and we did.  We had so much fun.  She was one of the most giving and selfless people I have ever known.  We had so many plans, so much to do still....
We will have that cavatelli and beans, invent something great, listen to Guns and Roses amongst others, and have fun in Antigua... in heaven...when it is my time to join.

My heart is breaking knowing that my best friend of 33 years has passed.  I don't want to believe it, but her name is staring back at me as I'm writing this.  Melissa and I were partners in crime.  We both lived together as well as 3000 miles apart.  No matter what our living situation, our friendship grew stronger over the years.  I will miss our weekly hour conversations to catch up.
